Sebastián Velez Ocampo: New Protocol for Long-term Results in Melasma Treatments Using an Nd:YAG Multipulse Skin Conditioning Approach

Melasma is a complex condition that has been difficult to treat, with improvements only sustainable for short periods of time. We have implemented a multifactorial approach that not only treats the symptoms but mainly addresses the underlying cause of melasma.

Our proposed protocol is composed of 3 steps that are always used and a fourth step according to the progression; each step is made with specific objectives, 4-8 sessions every 15 days.

It is a promising treatment that to date is showing high effectiveness with results maintained over time, which makes it different from what exists to date. It is necessary to expand the sample and the use of objective measurement instruments.
