Dentistry Lecturers
Dr. Simunovic is a graduate from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. After practicing general dentistry for 2 years in private practice he joined Zurich University’s Faculty of Dentistry, as an assistant to Dr. Krejci, focusing his studies on the effect of CO2 laser in hard dental tissues and common restorative materials. He received his Doctorate Degree from the same faculty in 1991 for his work, presenting his paper at the 2nd World Convention of Lasers in Dentistry. The following year he became an assistant at the Department of Oral Dental Surgery, under the guidance of Dr. Gion Pajarola, being mainly responsible for radiotherapy and laser therapy patients. In 1997 he established his own dental office focusing mainly on laser-assisted general and aesthetic dentistry, periodontology and oral dental surgery. Dr. Simunovic is a Board Member for Dentistry of EMLA, an international associate member of the Chicago Dental Society, and member of various Swiss dental societies, among which the Swiss Society of Oral Laser Application. He is the author of numerous published papers and teaches laser-assisted dentistry in both theory and practice. Dr. Simunović has been a speaker in several national and international workshops and events.
Dr. Ilay Maden studied dentistry (1998-2003) and completed his PhD in periodontology (2003-2009) at the University of Istanbul, Turkey. He also received a MSc degree in Lasers in Dentistry from Aachen University, Germany in 2007 before moving to the UK and passing his statutory exams (2016).
Dr. Maden is a lecturer for the Lasers in Dentistry MSc programs at the Aachen Dental Laser Centre at Aachen University, Germany and the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore International, Rome, Italy, in addition to being a Faculty Expert at the Masters’ Program at the Laser and Health Academy. After practicing mainly periodontology and implantology for 15 years as an associate at several private practices in Istanbul and the UK, he has now set up his own laser & digital dentistry practice on Harley Street in London. He is also the country representative of the International Society of Laser Dentistry for the UK, as well as a member of the editorial board for Lasers in Medical Science, Laser magazine and the Journal of the Laser and Health Academy.
Dr. Maden has led many theoretical and hands-on courses teaching laser dentistry around the world and has been a speaker at numerous international congresses on lasers in the last decade. He is a member of the International Society of Laser Dentistry, the British Medical Laser Association, the European Federation of Periodontology, the European Academy of Osseointegration, the Turkish Dental Association, the European Federation of Periodontology, the Turkish Periodontology Association and more.
Dr. Giovanni Olivi graduated cum laude in Medicine and Surgery and in Dentistry at the University of Rome, Italy. He has lectured in the past fourteen years as a visiting professor in several European universities. He mantains his private practice in Endodontics, Aesthetic and Paediatric Dentistry in Rome, where he is also Professor a.c. at the "Catholic University of Sacro Cuore".
Dr. Olivi completed the postgraduate laser course at the University of Florence in 2002 and achieved the laser certification from ISLD in 2004. He also obtained his Advanced Proficiency from the Academy of Laser Dentistry in 2006 and achieved the Master status from ALD in 2009. In 2007 he received the "Leon Goldman Award" for clinical excellence from ALD.
Dr. Olivi is an active member of the Italian Academy of Microscope Dentistry (AIOM), the Italian Society of Endodontics (SIE), the Italian Society of Pediatric Dentistry (SIOI) as well as an active member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD). He is the author of over 60 peer-reviewed articles and several textbook chapters on dentistry topics. He is also the author of 4 books on laser applications in Dentistry: Laser in Dental Traumatology, Pediatric Laser Dentistry, Laser in Restorative Dentistry and Laser in Endodontics.
Dr. Zafer Kazak graduated in 1987 from Istanbul University’s Faculty of Dentistry and in 1988 became a founding partner of the Kadıköy Medicadent Dental Center in Istanbul, where he served as a dental practitioner and administrator. During his practical work he graduated from the Master of Science program "Laser in Dentistry" at the RWTH-Aachen University in 2007.
In 2014 Dr. Kazak opened a new clinic with the latest dental technologies, the Ataşehir Medicadent Dental Center located in Istanbul. He has also conducted laser mastership organizations as an external staff of Turkey in Aachen University Laser Academy for 6 years and took part as an instructor in these organizations. He has served as an Implant instructor at the German Implant Training Academy IFZI since 2010 and as an Instructor at laser Health Academy since 2014. Dr. Kazak is also the Founding President of the Global Dentist Association.
Dr. Shiffman is in general practice at the Laser Dental Center in Boynton Beach, Florida. He is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry and completed a general practice residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, with an emphasis on treating medically compromised patients. Dr. Shiffman completed certification with the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) in three types of laser systems and has been awarded a Fellowship in the ALD. He is personally involved in the use and development of cutting edge technology and has performed tens of thousands of dental laser procedures over the last 18 years. Dr. Shiffman is the holder of several trademarks relating to Sleep and Aesthetic Laser dentistry. He is an instructor for the Academy of Clinical Technology (ACT) and a Masters status lecturer with the Laser and Health Academy. Dr. Shiffman most recently lectured at the Rocky Mountain Dental Conference, Yankee Dental Congress, the Greater New York Dental Meeting, the American Sleep and Breathing Association, the Seattle Study Club Symposium, the Academy of General Dentistry Annual conference and the 2019 Lasers and Health Conference in Lake Bled, Slovenia on Advances in Laser Dentistry. Dr. Shiffman is an adjunct professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine, and is developing an undergraduate and post-grad laser program. Dr. Shiffman has been awarded the Expert Lecturer status from the Laser and Health Academy.
Dr. Usumez is a 1996 graduate of Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry. In 1997 she started her PhD education in Prosthodontics and completed her PhD thesis "Evaluation of bonding Porcelain Laminate Veneers to acid etched or Er,Cr:YSGG laser etched teeth surfaces" in 2001. She was appointed as "Assistant Professor" in 2003, as "Associate Professor" in 2005 and as "Professor" in 2010. She completed her MSc in "Lasers in Dentistry" in RWTH Aachen University in 2012. She was awarded as the "Young Scientist of 2008" by The Turkish Dental Association. She has published over 60 scientific articles in journals, received oral and poster presentations awards and travel stipends from international congresses. She is currently the head of the Department of Prosthodontics in Bezmialem Vakif University, Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul. She is married and has 2 children.
Dr. Gaspirc is a graduate from the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine. In 1997 he was awarded his Master’s degree in Dentistry and subsequently went on to achieve Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Periodontology. Having been involved in fundamental research in the application of lasers in dentistry for over 20 years, Dr. Gaspirc is a leading expert in laser dentistry and a regular lecturer and presenter at domestic and international conferences, mainly covering the use of lasers in periodontology. He currently practices dentistry at the Ljubljana University Medical Center's Dental Clinic, where since 2014 he has been Head of the Department of Oral Disease and Periodontology.
Dr. Gaspirc is a professional member of numerous domestic and international organizations and is the Slovenian representative delegate for the WFLD. From 2012 on he has been the president of the Association of Oral Disease, Dental Implantology and Periodontology of Slovenia.
Dr. David Dovsak is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Ljubljana, Slovenia. He subsequently became resident at the Ljubljana University Medical Center’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 2001 he concluded his residency to become Specialist Maxillofacial Surgeon; he also became head of the Oncology Division at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As member of several domestic and international professional organizations, Dr. Dovsak is a noted lecturer and author on topics related to the latest advances in laser and maxillofacial surgery. His main scope of interest lies in oral and oropharingeal tumors, and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. Recently Dr. Dovsak started up his own surgery and dentistry clinic, AMOK d.o.o., together with wife Dr. Petja Dovsak, DDS, offering a comprehensive range of services using advanced treatment modalities for higher levels of patient care.
Prof. Dr. Roeland J.G. De Moor is head of the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontology, former Dean of the Dental School, and currently Head of the Dental Clinic of the Ghent University Hospital, Belgium. He is also program director of the 3-year specialization program in Endodontics at Ghent University and founder of the Ghent Dental Laser Centre and the Ghent Dental Photonics Research Clustre. He is an international lecturer in Laser Dentistry and Endodontology and author / co-author of more than 150 peer-reviewed international and national publications (mostly on endodontic and laser subjects). Prof. Dr. De Moor is a founding member of BAET (Belgian Association for Endodontology and Traumatology) as well as a founding member of the First World Congress of Microdentistry.
Dr. Fornaini is an eminent researcher and lecturer in the field of lasers in oral applications and dentistry. He currently holds a research position at the University of Nice Sophie Antipolis where he also coordinates the EMDOLA, European Master degree in Oral Laser Applications program. He is a faculty member at the Dental School of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Parma, and is a Visiting Professor at Liege University (Belgium) both of which run EMDOLA program. Dr. Fornaini attained his Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1980 and completed his medical apprenticeship in Dentistry at the Dental Division of the Hospital of Parma the following year. Among other post graduate degrees, he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in “Use of Laser in Dentistry” at the University of Florence in 2002. In 2005 he attained a DU in “Oral Laser Applications” from the University of Nice and went on to achieve his European Master Degree in Oral Laser Applications from the University of Liege in 2007. Dr. Fornaini is a scientific committee member of several international and national laser dentistry organizations and has lectured and published numerous times on various topics within laser dentistry. He currently practices laser dentistry in his own private practice in Fiorenzuola d’Arda (Italy) with a particular focus on pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Snjaric graduated in 1999 from the University of Rijeka’s Medical faculty, School of Dental Medicine, where he became an assistant at the Department of Dental Pathology. He attended post-graduation studies at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Dentistry, where he received his MSc degree in 2005. Since 2007 he works in a private dental practice and in 2012, he received a PhD from the University of Rijeka, with his dissertation on the field of endodontic irrigation. Since 2014 he has also worked as an associate at his alma mater’s School of Dental Medicine in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. He is a member of various dental societies, including the Croatian Society of Endodontology, the European Society of Endodontology, and the Laser and Health Academy.
Dr. Snjaric uses dental lasers on a daily basis in his clinical practice and promotes laser-assisted dentistry as a lecturer and trainer, holding courses on the use of diode, Nd:YAG and Er:YAG lasers.
Dr. Alan Dalessandro was born and raised in the Chicago area. He received his DDS degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry, Chicago in 1979. He did a residency at Rush Presbyterian, St Luke’s Hospital in General Practice and Anesthesia, and went on to get his periodontal fellowship at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry. He practiced periodontics for many years in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, and began placing dental implants in the early 1980s. He was one of the early adopters of Cone Beam CT scanning for bone evaluation, and this has been successfully used in his practice for several years. Dr. Dalessandro has also studied extensively regarding lasers and their use in dentistry. His goal is to pass knowledge and information along to his colleagues to help them become educated and understand the physics of a laser so it can be used as a tool to enhance results in periodontal and implant therapy.
Dr. Scott Benjamin is an internationally recognized lecturer, author, authority, educator, and trainer on dental lasers and advance dental technologies and is in full time private practice in Sidney, New York, in the USA where he utilizes several lasers of different wavelengths on an everyday basis.
Dr. Benjamin is an Adjunct Professor at Midwestern University, Colleges of Dental Medicine, an Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He is intimately involved with developing the program for laser education with ADEA’s Lasers in Dentistry-Special Interest Group (LiD-SIG) for the dental and hygiene schools’ core educational curriculum in both the didactic and clinical environment. He is Co-Chair of the ADA Standards Committee’s Working Group on Dental Lasers and the Working Group on Digital Imaging Technologies and is a member of the ANSI Committee Z136 on Laser Safety and is a Past-President of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD).
Dr. Benjamin is presently the Technology Section Editor for The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry and is a member of the editorial board of several prestigious peer reviewed dental journals and has published hundreds of articles, chapters, and technical reports on lasers, diagnosis, and other advanced dental technologies.
Dr. Jovanovic is a researcher and lecturer in the field of laser-based oral applications and dentistry. As a member of several international organizations in laser-assisted dentistry he has published numerous articles and has lectured at domestic and international congresses and workshops. He practices laser dentistry on a daily basis in his private practice in Kozarac – Prijedor, BiH, where he focuses mainly on endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery and aesthetic dentistry. Currently he is involved in several clinical research studies, with the aim of bringing additional benefits in laser-assisted dentistry to patients worldwide.
Dr. Bogdan Crişan is a Faculty Expert for the Laser and Health Academy in the domain of laser application in surgery and dentistry, with over 18 years of experience in the use of diode lasers on soft tissues and over 15 years of experience in the use of lasers on hard tissues. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the Iuliu Haţieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 2002 and obtained his master's degree in Oral Rehabilitation and Oral Health in 2007 at the same University.
Dr. Crişan has been a specialist in oral surgery since 2011. He attended specialization courses and trainings in clinics and research centers in Sweden (Karolinska Institutet), Switzerland (Universitat Basel) and South Korea (Hallym University). In 2011 he received his certificate of complementary studies in "Therapeutic and surgical use of laser in dentistry", and received a PhD in Medical Sciences in 2013, with his PhD thesis on the subject of the use of laser in treatment of vascular malformations and oral soft-tissue benign tumors. His scientific activity has resulted in the participation in numerous national and international scientific congresses, where he presented lectures and oral presentations related to the use of laser in oral surgery, periodontal therapy, peri-implant complications and facial or dental aesthetics. He has published as first author and co-author numerous scientific papers in national and international journals. He is an active member of the Romanian Society of Lasers in Dentistry (SRLS), which is affiliated with the WFLD-ED. He is currently a Lecturer at the Iuliu Haţieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj- Napoca, Romania and an associate laser practitioner at two private clinics in Cluj.
Dr. Mironov Evgeniy is a dental surgeon with a degree from the Sofia Medical university in Bulgaria. He practices laser dentistry in his own private practice, Dental studio Mironovi in Sofia, with a particular focus on oral implantology and aesthetic dentistry. He is also currently attending the M.Sc. laser dentistry program at RWTH Aachen University. Dr. Mironov is very active in the research and development of new laser applications and solutions. He has held numerous laser implantology workshops in Bulgaria and is planning to organize workshops on an international level.
Dr. Hisham Abdalla graduated with honors from Charles University in Prague with a Medical University Doctor of Stomatology (dentistry). He an international citizen who has chosen Auckland, New Zealand to be home, where he became the first practitioner to use multiple lasers in dentistry. Dr Abdalla is an invited Associate Professor at Cagliari University in Sardinia, Italy and is the accredited course provider and examiner for the Queensland University Laser Certification program by Professor Laurie Walsh.
Dr. Abdalla is an internationally respected speaker, author and educator in the fields of laser dentistry, minimally invasive high-tech dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. He is a founding member of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a founding member and past Vice President of the NZ Institute of Minimal Intervention Dentistry, a Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute and a member of the Auckland and New Zealand Dental Associations.
Dr. Jason Pang completed his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree (Biomedical Science) in 1994 from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) with the University Medal. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2002. He maintains a private practice in Sydney, Australia where he has used multiple lasers since 2008. He is an educator and International speaker and trains local and overseas dentists in the use of ozone, CBVT and lasers for dental and aesthetic treatments.
Currently Dr. Pang is the Australian Master trainer for Fotona lasers and has completed two Masters in Laser Dentistry - one from the prestigious Laser Aesthetic & Health Academy (LA&HA) in Slovenia and another from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma (Catholic University of Rome). He also runs the Australian and New Zealand Study Club of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) and is a member of the Australia Medical Photobiomodulation Association (AMPA). Dr. Pang is the author of the chapter “Innovative Dentistry” in the Amazon Best-selling book “Game Changers: Entrepreneurs Leading Change”.
Dr. Dragana Gabric Panduric received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Zagreb, Croatia in 2004. In 2010 she received her PhD from the same university, with her dissertation on the field of experimental laser bone surgery (“Physical and ultrastructural bone effect comparison between laser and surgical drill”).
In 2013 she became a Senior Research Scientist and in 2014 an Assistant Professor at the University’s Department of Oral Surgery, School of Dental Medicine. In 2019 she became an Associate Professor as well as the Head of the Reference Center for Dental Implantology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia. Since 2021 Dr. Gabric Panduric has been serving as Head of the Department of Oral Surgery at the University Dental Clinic, University Hospital Center Zagreb.
Her fields of interest include dental implantology, minimally invasive surgical procedures, laser bone and soft-tissue surgery, PRF technique in augmentation procedures, and bone grafts. Dr. Gabric Panduric is the author of many cited scientific papers and is a reviewer for several international scientific journals (Journal of Periodontology, Acta Stomatologica Croatica, Journal of Cranio-Maxillary Diseases, Microscopy and Microanalysis, Journal of Laser, Optics & Photonics). She is a member of the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine, the Croatian Society of Oral Surgeons, the Croatian Association for Dental Implantology, the Croatian Medical Association, the Croatian Society for Maxillofacial, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Face and Neck, and the Laser and Health Academy.
Kinga Grzech-Leśniak holds a PhD with distinction in periodontology (2013, Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland). In 2005 she was awarded the title of advanced specialist in periodontology and oral pathology. She worked as an assistant professor in periodontology at the Jagiellonian University Dental Clinic. She has been a practitioner since 2000 and in 2006 she established a specialist clinic which has become one of the leading periodontal treatment centers in Poland.
Since 2005 she has conducted workshops for dental hygienists and medical doctors based on her proprietary program on the cooperation between hygienist and dentist during periodontal treatment. Her professional interests include periodontal laser therapy, design and implementation of academic programs in periodontology for implantology specialists and periodontal plastic microsurgery.
She is a founding member of the Polish Society of Ergonomics in Dentistry (PTES) and Polish Society of Laser Dentistry (PTSL), a member of the Polish Society of Implantology (PSI), Polish Society of Periodontology and European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and country representative for Poland at the World Federation for Laser Dentistry (WFLD).
Professor Benedicenti is an Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics at the University of Genoa (Italy) as well as the Dean of University’s Laser Department. He is also the President of the European Master Course in Laser Dentistry and a Founding member of IAHT (International Academy of High Tech). Professor Benedicenti is the author and co-author of 80 publications in national and international journals and of three books in the field of laser dentistry.
Dr. Kelsch received his degree in dentistry from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, in 1995 and opened his own dental practice in Karlsruhe–Neureut in 1998. He has been active in laser dentistry since 2011 and a dedicated user of Fotona’s LightWalker laser system since 2012, acquiring a second LightWalker for his practice in the following year. Dr. Kelsch is also a trainer and lecturer in the fields of laser dentistry and implantology. He conducts regular workshops throughout Germany as well as at his private practice in Karlsruhe–Neureut.
Dr. Rita El Feghali is a dental surgeon who graduated from the Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon. She obtained her Master of Sciences degree in Laser Dentistry with honors from the University of Genoa, Italy, where she is currently a Professor a.c. in the Department of Surgical Sciences and Integrated Diagnostics. Dr. El Feghali is a speaker in several national and international laser workshops and events. She is a reviewer in the peer-reviewed journal “Lasers in Medical Science”. In her private practice in Beirut, she works with three laser wavelengths, 980 nm Diode, 1064 nm Nd:YAG and 2940 nm Er:YAG.
Dr. Krizaj Dumic graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After graduation she worked as a dentist in the public health center, and in 2003 opened her own private practice. Throughout the years the practice has evolved into a dental clinic that offers a wide variety of dental treatments in fields such as endodontics, periodontics, implantology, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry. In 2007 she started using Er:YAG and Nd:YAG lasers and recognized how useful the laser is as an everyday tool. As active members of the Laser & Health Academy since 2011, Dr. Krizaj Dumic is grateful to be in touch with laser developments and new technologies. She gained the title of Expert Clinical Lecturer in 2011 and looks forward to every lecture and workshop because she enjoys inspiring other doctors with the possibilities that laser technology can offer.
Dr. Seto is a general dentist who graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Hong Kong in 1992. He then obtained his DGDP RCS Eng in1996, his PDipDS from the University of Hong Kong in 1999 and a MSc from the University of London in 2001. In August 2004, he was awarded a Diploma in Clinical Acupuncture by the University of Hong Kong.
Subsequently, Dr. Seto switched to laser dentistry, completing a MSc in Lasers in Dentistry at the RWTH Aachen University of Germany in 2007 with distinction. In 2008, he was awarded the Membership in General Dentistry by the College of Dental Surgeon of Hong Kong and in 2009 he obtained the European Master Degree in Oral Laser Application.
Dr. Seto was a part time clinical lecturer in the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Hong Kong from September 2005 to August 2015. He is currently a Fellow of the International College of Continuous Dental Education. In recent years, he frequently travels to the main cities in the PRC and other Asian countries to deliver lectures, provide basic dental laser trainings and exchange ideas with local dentists.
Dr. Tosun Tosun graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Istanbul, Turkey in 1989 and has been the owner of a private practice in Istanbul since 1990. He worked as Research Assistant in the Department of Oral Implantology, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Istanbul between 1990 and 2002. He was also a visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Padua and the Branemark Osseointegration Center of Treviso from 1993 to 1994. He obtained a PhD degree in Oral Implantology at the University of Istanbul (1990-97).
Dr. Tosun obtained his Associated Professor title in 2003. He received a Mastership in Dental Lasers from the AALZ-Aachen University, Germany (2010-11) and a MSc in Dental Lasers from the University of Genoa, Italy (2013-14). He was contract Professor in the Department of Surgical and Diagnostic Sciences (DI.S.C.), Medical School, University of Genoa between 2011-2014 and was a contract Professor in Instituto Toscano, University of Pisa, Italy between 2015-16. Since 2017 he is staff member of the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental Medicine School, Istanbul Aydin University. He obtained his Professor title in 2018. In 2019 he was elected as the Dean of the Dental Medicine School of Istanbul Aydin University for three years.
Beatrijs Deruyter graduated with honors with a Masters degree in Dentistry from Vrije University in Brussels, Belgium in 1980. She joined the Faculty staff of the department of Prosthetics and Restorative Dentistry at Brugman Teaching Hospital in Brussels from 1980-1984. Dr. Deruyter first began working with lasers in 1991 and has earned several medical-laser degrees, including Master of SOLA Academy: University of Vienna, Austria (2004), Standard proficiency ALD, parts 1-3 (2004-2006), Master of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (2009), and Master of Science in Laser Dentistry: Department of Surgical and Diagnostic Science-Universita degli Studi di Genova (2013-2014).
Since 2013, Dr. Deruyter has been an instructor in laser techniques at the UZ Leuven Periodontal department of KU Leuven in Belgium, where she’s also been a doctoral clinical researcher in the periodontal field since 2014. She has been a reviewer for Lasers in Medical Science since 2011 and is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) and the Laser Institute of America (LIA).
Prof. Gokbuget received his dental degree in 1982, and in the same year became an assistant professor at Istanbul University’s Periodontology department. He received his PhD degree at the same university in 1989, becoming an associated professor in 1993 and full professor in1999. His main İnterests include periodontology, implantology, bone grafts and bone surgery, mucogingival surgery, and systemic diseases in dentistry.
Prof. Gokbuget has been in private practice since 1988. He has performed implant treatments since 1992 and has been a Meffert Implant Institute Implant educator since the year 2000. His international memberships include AAP, ICOI (Diplomat), IAP, the European Federation of Periodontology, and the Computer Aided Implantology Academy.
Piotr Roszkiewicz graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Dentistry in 2007 and has maintained his own private practice since 2008. Since 2012 he has been a lecturer at Poland’s OMEGA Medical Schools and since 2014 at Osstem AIC Poland.
Dr. Roszkiewicz has also worked with the Central Military Medical Clinic (specializing in conservative dentistry and endodontics) since 2014, and since 2016 has served as Course Director of the AIC Osstem Poland Authorized European Education Center.
Dr. Naresh Thukral is a pioneer in laser dentistry in India. His vocation to continuously improve patient care using the latest available technologies, led him to start his dental laser practice in 2000. He was the first in India to start using hard tissue lasers. Currently he uses Er:YAG, Nd:YAG, diode lasers, CO2 and LLLT technologies. Dr. Thukral founded the Indian Society for Oral Laser Applications and hosted the 1st International and National Conference in Mumbai, in 2006. Having graduated from Nair Hospital Dental College (Mumbai) in 1975, Dr. Thukral served 5 years in the Indian Army Dental Corps before going into private practice. His attachment to the M.A. Rangoonwala Dental College in Pune as a Faculty member demonstrates his understanding of the importance of continued education and research in dental care. Dr. Thukral’s quest for laser knowledge has led him to work with many laser dentistry peers all over the world, and has culminated in a Masters degree in Lasers from SOLA, University of Vienna, Austria.
Dr. Thukral is a frequently invited speaker at both national and international dental conferences and has published and contributed to many scientific papers in the field of laser dentistry. He is currently involved in research in the treatment of leukoplakia; a very common disorder in India.
Peter Åhnblad, MD graduated from the Karolinska Institute in 1993 and became a specialist in ear, nose, throat, head & neck surgery at Karolinska University Hospital in the year 2000. He is also an allergy researcher at Novum Karolinska University Hospital and a Principal investigator in several pharmaceutical and medical technology research studies in the fields of allergy, rhinitis, nasal polyps, snoring and tinnitus.
Since 2009 Dr. Åhnblad has served as the Founder and Chief Physician of Sickla Ear, Nose and Throat Center (Sickla ÖNH-center). His development of the Nasal Rinser Nasaline® in the year 2000 was elected as one of Sweden’s most important modern innovations and saved for posterity at the country’s National Technical Museum.
David Barnard completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Sydney in 1990, a Masters in Dental Science in Endodontics at Melbourne University in 1996 and subsequently a Master in Laser Dentistry at the Laser and Health Academy in 2021 and a Master of Science in Laser Dentistry at the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 2023.
He has been a full-time Endodontic specialist practicing in Sydney since 1996. He has been active in teaching both students and graduate dentists since this time and is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at both Charles Sturt and La Trobe Universities as well as a LA&HA International Expert Lecturer and a Visiting Dental Officer at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health. He is a Founding Fellow of the International Academy of Endodontics, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a member of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.
Dr. Phang Hui Jing is a general dental practitioner from Singapore. She graduated as Valedictorian from the National University of Singapore in 2006, awarded with the University Silver Medal, Terrel Silver Medal, Tratman Medal and SDA Book Prize, and was placed on the Dean’s List. Dr. Phang obtained a Master in Laser Dentistry at the Laser and Health Academy in Slovenia in 2024. Her private practice focuses on laser-assisted dentistry as well as pain and wellness management with photobiomodulation. She actively promotes the use of laser-assisted dentistry and holds courses on the use of diodes, Nd:YAG and Er:YAG lasers. Dr. Phang is passionate about laser-assisted root canal treatments, TMD photobiomodulation pain management, sleep and airway management with laser and dentofacial aesthetics with the Erbium laser.
Dr. Igor Križnar graduated in 2006 from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana and began working as an Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Endodontics and Operative Dentistry. He acquired the professional title Dental Specialist in Endodontics in 2014. Until the end of 2015 he worked as an Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine where he was engaged in work with students of dentistry in clinical and pre-clinical practice. At the same time he worked as a Dental Specialist in the University Medical Center Ljubljana. He was also engaged in research work and earned his PhD in endodontics from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana in 2016. In December 2015 he entered into full-time private clinical practice, limited mainly to endodontics.
He has published scientific papers in different scientific journals and actively participated in numerous international and local conferences and symposia.
Ivana Bogataj Tancer is a consultant otorhinolaryngologist and cervicofacial surgeon. She graduated from the Medical University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and started her professional career with an internship in emergency medicine and surgery at the University Medical Center Ljubljana. She has also worked as a physician in the Hospital Sezana and the Oncological Centre Ljubljana before starting her residency in ENT and cervicofacial surgery at the University Clinical Center Ljubljana.
Currently she works as a physician at different private practices. She joined Fotona in 2022 as a regular lecturer and clinical expert in laser medicine, aesthetics, surgery and ENT.
Dr. Judson Wall has been helping patients HEAL for over 20 years. With Fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry and American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, Dr. Wall has unique insights into the oral-systemic health connection, and how treating disorders of the head and neck can help people feel better. Dr. Wall’s life mission is to propogate this knowledge and understanding. Dr. Wall is married to Marisa Wall. Together, Dr. Wall and Marisa are raising 4 active young men.
Dr. Luciane Hiramatsu Azevedo graduated in Dentistry from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (1996). She earned a Master of Science in the area of nuclear technology - materials from the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (2002) and a Ph.D. in Oral Diagnosis from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (2005).
She is currently a dentist at the Special Laboratory of Laser in Dentistry at FOUSP and a professor at the Qualification Course for Lasers in Dentistry at the Foundation of the Faculty of Dentistry at FOUSP.
Ivona Bago graduated from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. In 2015 she became a specialist in Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb. Since 2010 she has been working at the Department of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Zagreb, where in 2013 she won her PhD in the field of laser use in endodontics. In 2014, she obtained a two-year postgraduate master¢s degree EMDOLA (European Master Degree in Oral Laser Application). She is currently working as full-time associate professor at the Department of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. She also practices endodontics and aesthetic dentistry in private practice in Zagreb.
Since 2020, she is a scientific project manager financed by the Croatian Science Foundation “Clinical and experimental investigation of laser activated photoacoustic streaming and photoactivated disinfection in endodontic treatment”. She is also a course leader in the field of laser use in endodontics at the postgraduate doctoral study at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb.
Since 2014, she has been a secretary of the Croatian Endodontic Society and a country representative of the Society at the European Society of Endodontology. She is the author and co-author of many scientific articles published in international journals and is a reviewer for international scientific journals (Journal of Endodontics, Lasers in Medical Science, Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, Photobiomodulation, Photomedicine and Laser Surgery, Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy, Australian Endodontic Journal). She lectures at many international congresses and annual congresses of the Croatian Endodontic Society and has led training courses in endodontics.
Dr. Nitish Kamboj has completed Masters Programs in Laser Dentistry from the Laser & Health Academy (LA&HA) as well as SOLA (Vienna, Austria). He also completed a Masters in Bone Grafting at Bern University along with other international courses and fellowships.
He currently runs a training academy in India, where he is teaching about laser and microdentistry, organizing training courses for hard and soft-tissue laser under magnification, and running a center for wellness for healing with low level laser therapy.
As an experienced general dentist who is passionate about general family dentistry, Dr. Philip Hand has enjoyed practicing occlusally aware dentistry with an emphasis on excellence in periodontal, endodontic and prosthodontic fields, which led him into orthodontic study through Progressive Orthodontic Seminars including the advanced course work bringing these fields of dentistry into a more cohesive form. He then began his laser journey that has brought his knowledge of dentistry to a new level. He has a passionate interest in airway and removal of frenal restrictions in all age groups, employing a collaborative approach.
Alexandra Marques completed her Master in Science in 2018 at Universitad internacional catalunia (UIC) and completed her specialization in Laser therapy at Ordem dos Médicos Dentistas (OMD) and Oral Surgery at Cooperativa de Ensino Superior Politécnico e Universitário (CESPU) in Portugal. She currently works as the Clinical Director at MD Clinica in Lisbon from 2009 till the present.
Pál Fóris graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary in 1979 and received his dental specialist degree from the same university in 1983 and opened his private dental practice the same year. He has been active in dental implantology since 1991, and has been practicing Biological dentistry since 1999.
In 2006, he completed his Master of Oral Medicine in Implantology degree from the University of Münster and his MSc in Implantology and Dental Surgery from the same university in 2014.
Dr. Fóris started using laser therapy in 2002 and completed surgical laser training in 2004. He's been working with Fotona's Er:YAG Laser since 2004. He's a member of the Hungarian Society for Dental Implantology, the Hungarian Society for Periodontology and the ITI International Team for Oral Implantology.
Dr. Tomaž Ivanušič graduated from the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Medicine in 2017. After graduation he served a 1 year internship, where he gained experience in different dental specialties. Already as student Dr. Ivanušič actively participated in international congresses and events. In 2018 he was chosen to join a group of 16 prospective young dentists who attended an advanced course in aesthetic dentistry in Lisbon, Portugal.
Dr. Ivanušič currently works as dentist in a private clinic in Slovenia, mostly performing endodontic, restorative and periodontal treatments with a special focus on laser dentistry. As part of his daily workflow he uses the Fotona LightWalker and develops new treatment possibilities. He also conducts lectures in preventive and restorative dentistry and works part time as researcher, lecturer and trainer at Fotona, where he has also been involved in research and development of new laser systems, in particular SkyPulse®.
Dr. Marcela Bisheimer Chemez received her Degree in Dentistry from the National University of Rosario, Argentina in 1990 and completer her Specializacion in Oral Medicine and Osteointegrated Implants at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Spain.
She further received a Postgraduate Diploma in Dentomaxillary Surgery from the University Hospital “Gregorio Marañón” in Madrid in 1994, as well as a Doctorate in Dentistry from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2004. She received the certification exam SEMDES-FESMES of Expert in Dental Sleep Medicine in 2020.
Dr. Bisheimer Chemez has been the Medical Director of the Bisheimer Clinic in Madrid, a laser reference and training center since 1999, where she is an active user of laser in dentistry (Fotona´s Fidelis Er:YAG – Nd:YAG and Diode). She has also completed LA&HA Institute Certification training for NightLase® Snoring and Apnea Treatments and Perioral Aesthetic treatments in 2018.
Dr. Bisheimer Chemez is currently the President of the Spanish Society of Laser and Phototherapy in Dentistry (SELO).
Dr. Thierry Maleca is a periodontist & implantologist specializing in laser treatments, with a private practice based in Lyon, France. He received his Master in Periodontology from the University of Lyon as well as a Master in Oral surgery from the University of Dijon, France, followed by a Certificate in Clinical and Competence (CCC) in laser treatments from Garancieres University in Paris. Dr. Maleca currently serves as the Director of Laser Esthetique Institut in Lyon and conducts CCC courses at Garancieres University in Paris.
Barbara Skrlj Golob graduated from the University of Ljubljana Medical Faculty’s Department of Dentistry in the year 2000. In the following years she attended several courses on implantology and prosthodontics, and in 2007 began her private practice. For the next three years, she continued her education in endodontics and started to expand her knowledge into the field of laser dentistry.
In 2011, Dr. Skrlj Golob received LSO and AALZ Dental Laser certificates from the University of Aachen, Germany, and in the following year she received a PIPS Certificate awarded by Professor Giovanni Olivi in Rome. In 2016, she received her MSc degree in Laser Dentistry from the University of Genova. Currently, she is continuing her postgraduate studies at the University of Torino for a Master in Clinical and Surgical Microendodontics under the supervision of Professor Elio Berutti.
Dr. Betül Göfteci graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Ankara University in Turkey in 1990, after which she began studies in the Department of Periodontology at Gazi University in 1991. She received her PhD in Periodontology in 1997, and in the same year began courses at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine at Gazi University.
Between 1998 and 2000 Dr. Göfteci worked abroad at a private clinic in New Orleans in the United States, also conducting research for retrospective and histological studies at the clinic, as well as continuing her professional education by attending courses on microsurgery and implant placement.
Dr. Betül Göfteci has been using Fotona Dental lasers since 2012 for periodontology and oral surgeries including implantology. In 2018, she successfully completed the five-module course of study in the LA&HA Master’s Program, and served as one of the lecturers for Module 5 of the program (including live periodontal treatment and oral surgeries) held on March 2018 at the Medicadent Dental Clinic in Istanbul, where she is currently working as periodontist & implantologist.
Dr. Linhlan Nguyen is a General Practitioner in Canberra, Australia. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Sydney in Australia in 1996. Her private clinic emphasizes dentofacial aesthetics and laser assisted dentistry. Dr. Nguyen obtained the Master in Laser Dentistry at the Laser and Health Academy in 2017 and was awarded her Master of Science in Laser Dentistry at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 2020. She has been a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists since 2015 and the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics since 2016. Dr. Nguyen is passionate in TMD myofascial pain management, airway health and sleep medicine. She is also a Laser Therapist and currently completing her Graduate Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science.
Ralf Schlichting received his dental degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Regensburg, Germany in 1997, followed by a PhD degree from the same university in 2002. He has been a national and international lecturer in Endodontics since 2008 and has specialized exclusively in endodontics at his private practice in Passau since 2014. Dr. Schlichting has published articles and lectured extensively on Laser Activated Irrigation, and became the first clinical operator of PIPS in endodontic practice in Germany in 2015.
Dr. Schlichting is a graduate of the first curriculum in Endodontics at DGET (the German Society of Endodontology and Traumatology), as well as a Board Member and Treasurer of DGET. He is also a Specialist Member of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and a Certified Member of the European Society of Endodontology (ESE).
